Network and Security Systems Engineer
Roles and Responsibilities
Network Implementation and Operations
- Manage, operate, and troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 internetworking technologies.
- Configure and maintain VLANs, trunking, port channels, STP, routing protocols, and IP addressing.
- Manage TCP/IP network services and ensure proper routing and connectivity across the IDC network.
- Operate and support network devices running Cisco IOS, Cisco NX-OS, JUNOS, or equivalent network operating systems.
- Support the implementation of network architecture changes, upgrades, and expansions.
Firewall and Network Security Operations
- Configure, operate, and troubleshoot firewalls, access-control lists, NAT policies, VPNs, and security zones.
- Implement and maintain network security best practices across the IDC environment.
- Support incident response activities related to network attacks, suspicious traffic, DDoS events, and unauthorized access attempts.
- Perform regular review of firewall rules, access policies, and security configurations.
- Apply basic ethical hacking and security assessment knowledge to identify and reduce network exposure.
Tier-2 and Tier-3 Technical Support
- Provide Tier-2 and Tier-3 network support in a 24×7 hosting and data center environment.
- Troubleshoot complex customer and infrastructure connectivity issues.
- Analyze incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Escalate critical issues appropriately and participate in major incident response when required.
- Prepare technical reports, incident reports, and root cause analysis documentation.
Required Technical Skills and Competencies
- Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking.
- TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, routing, switching, and redundancy protocols.
- Cisco IOS, Cisco NX-OS, JUNOS, or equivalent platforms.
- OSPF, BGP, static routing, policy-based routing, and route filtering.
- Firewalls, access-control lists, NAT, VPNs, and security policies.
- Internet peering, ISP connectivity, and data center network operations.
- Quality of Service configuration and monitoring.
- Network monitoring, troubleshooting, packet analysis, and log review.
- Basic network security best practices and ethical hacking concepts.
- Incident management, root cause analysis, and technical reporting.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least a Diploma in Information Technology, Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field will be an added advantage.
